Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has congratulated Vietnamese actress Ngo Thanh Van and her fiance on getting engaged.

"Congrats gurrlllllll," the Hollywood star commented Tuesday under Van's engagement announcement on Instagram.

American film director Gina Prince-Bythewood wrote: "Congratulations!!"

In response, Van said thank you under their comments and included heart emojis.

Earlier this week, Van took on social media to announce her engagement with local businessman Huy Tran, 11 years her junior.

Van had the opportunity to work with Theron and Prince-Bythewood on the movie 'The Old Guard' that premiered on Netflix in 2020.

"We had a good time working together, keeping a good relationship since then. For me, Charlize Theron is a talented woman," the Vietnamese actress said.

In the behind-the-scenes video posted on Van’s Facebook in July 2020, Theron embraced her, saying she was lucky to work with Van and that she was amazing, before giving Van a kiss on the cheek.

The Old Guard is a work based on the comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka (also in charge of the screenplay) and Leandro Fernandez, revolving around a group of super soldiers living through the centuries. In the film, Ngo Thanh Van plays Quynh, Andy's first fighting friend (Charlize Theron).

Centuries prior to when the story takes place, Quynh was captured by priests, branded a witch and thrown into the sea in an iron coffin, continually forced to drown ever since due to her immortality. Van was featured for around three minutes out of the film’s entire 124 minutes.

After her short appearance in the first installment, Van assured fans via Facebook last July of a comeback and additional screen time during the sequel, promising way more action.

Charlize Theron is a South African and American actress and producer. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award. She was named among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016 by Time.

Van, aka Veronica Ngo, is a Vietnamese actress, singer and model.

Prior to 'The Old Guard', she also appeared in four other Hollywood projects - 'Da 5 Bloods' in June, 'Bright' and 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' in 2017, and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny' in 2016.
