The Palace denied a Spanish journalist’s claim the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton was in a coma after abdominal surgery in mid-January.

Journalist Concha Calleja claimed on Spanish news program Fiesta that the princess, 42, was in a coma due to complications, according to The Times.

Other Spanish media outlets also picked up her report. However, a palace source denied the claims. "It’s total nonsense."

"No attempt was made by that journalist to fact-check anything that she said with anyone in the household. It’s fundamentally, totally made-up, and I’ll use polite English here: it’s absolutely not the case."

The palace added that the surgery was "successful," but her recovery would require her to stay at the hospital for up to two weeks, according to People.

After 13 days at The London Clinic, Kate returned home to Windsor, where she will continue her recovery. She is not expected to return to royal duty until after Easter on March 31, the palace said.
