PPG has launched the Spectracron Mix automated paint mixing system for industrial coaters in Vietnam, simplifying the process of applying liquid primers and topcoats.

Developed to deliver precision color and quality on demand, the innovative system replaces the manual mixing process with a splash-free system that is equipped with an integrated mixing system, tinter storage, and color management software. The self-contained unit is compact, with a small footprint that fits easily into most paint shop operations.

"With this system, PPG is helping its partners streamline their paint mixing process, improve color accuracy, and reduce the risk of human error," said Le Dong Lam, General Manager, PPG Industrial Coating Southeast Asia (North) as well as General Manager PPG Vietnam. "This is a great example of PPG’s commitment to value-added service and innovation."

The system comes with 21 standard color formulations commonly used on window and door frames, furniture, outdoor metal furniture, and motorcycle parts, with the capability to add more standard and customized colors as needed. New color formulations will continue to be added to the system in 2024 and beyond.

Previously, customers had to preorder paint through distributors, which typically required a minimum of 25 kilograms. With PPG Spectracron Mix, they can order intermediates such as tints and resins and mix paint quickly in-house in quantities as small as 4–8 kilograms.
