My wife seeks control of the nearly $20K I inherit from my father

My father left me a savings book worth VND500 million (US$19,558) before his death, which my wife has asked to manage by incorporating it into her own savings.

At 32, I find myself deeply at odds with my wife financially. We lived with my parents until my father’s recent demise, during which time my wife managed all our finances. Our home life was stable and quarrel-free. I contribute 90% of my income to our household expenses, reserving the remaining 10% for personal use. I neither gamble nor drink, nor am I unfaithful.

Despite this, my wife has suggested that I transfer the funds from my father’s account into hers for management purposes. I am reluctant to agree because I fear she may use the funds for personal or family expenses unrelated to us.

Additionally, this money was a personal gift from my father to me. I have no plans to spend it yet, but I believe I should be the one to manage it. Why is my wife so insistent on having control over it and transferring it to her name?

How can I keep this inheritance under my name while helping my wife understand and ensuring our family remains harmonious?
