VN-Index rises 0.89% with most bluechips in green

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 0.89% to 1,254.39 points Wednesday.

The index closed 11.11 points higher after gaining 3.10 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 42% to VND22.149 trillion (US$870.3 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 26 tickers gained.

HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group went up 3.3%, FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation gained 2.8%, and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group grew 2.3%.

Only three bluechips fell. TPB of lender TPBank closed 0.28% lower, VPB of private lender VPBank slid 0.26%, ACB of Asia Commercial Bank went down 0.2%.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND296 billion, mainly buying MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World and HPG of Hoa Phat Group.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.77%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.53%.
