Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.52% to 1,052.25 points Monday in its fifth straight session in the green.

The index closed 5.46 points higher after gaining 1.69 points on Friday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 2.89% to VND9.72 trillion ($413.44 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 20 tickers gain.

NVL of property developer Novaland Group hit the ceiling price with a 6.7% rise.

SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation gained 2.7% and VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank rose 2.2%.

HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development both went up 2%.

Eight blue chips fell, led by PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex with a 1.8% drop.

MSN of conglomerate Masan Group lost 1.7% and VHM of property giant Vinhomes closed 1.2% lower.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND171.17 billion, mainly buying HPG and VHM.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.46% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.64%.
