Experts and leaders at the Innovate Vietnam 2024 event discussed Vietnam's strategy to capitalize on the 4th Industrial Revolution and build a robust tech ecosystem.

Developing high-quality human resources

Artificial intelligence and semiconductors are the backbone of the modern economy, driving high-tech industries worldwide. Vietnam has identified these sectors as pivotal in its technological advancement, as highlighted in Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, issued by the 13th Party Central Committee.

The resolution calls for accelerating industrialization and modernizing the economy, positioning semiconductors at the forefront of this transformation.

Vietnam is making significant investments in developing high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry. This move aims to secure the country's place in the global semiconductor value chain.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment recently launched the "Semiconductor Industry Human Resources Development Program until 2030, with orientation towards 2050," approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sept. 21. The program is designed to ensure Vietnam has a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the semiconductor industry's demands, both in terms of quality and quantity.

NIC: A catalyst for growth

The National Innovation Center (NIC), under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, plays a pivotal role in fostering Vietnam's high-tech industries. Through collaborations with domestic and international partners, NIC has established training programs and initiatives that link academia, businesses, and the government. These efforts are aimed at creating a pipeline of skilled workers, attracting global tech leaders, and nurturing startups into unicorns.

NIC's contributions represent a crucial step in mastering semiconductor technology, enabling Vietnam to fully harness the potential of its human capital within the country's 2021-2030 socio-economic development strategy. Over the last five years, NIC has become a hub for tech innovators, where new ideas flourish.

Innovate Vietnam 2024: A technology feast

The upcoming Innovate Vietnam 2024, to be held at NIC's headquarters in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on Oct. 1-2, promises to be a landmark event. Celebrating NIC's 5th anniversary, it will serve as a platform for networking, learning, and collaboration. It will feature key forums and workshops such as "Businesses and the Next Generation in the AI and Semiconductor Technology Wave Conference", "International Cooperation on Human Resources Development for Chip Design", and "New Career Opportunities in Technology: How Will Vietnamese Youth Embrace Them?"

Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, highlighted the importance of the event during a recent press briefing. "Innovate Vietnam 2024 will bring together tech leaders, scientists, and businesses to drive innovation forward," he said.

Amidst the dynamic atmosphere of innovation, Innovate Vietnam 2024 promises to be a technology feast.

The event will gather tech giants in AI and semiconductors, namely Meta, Nvidia, Qualcomm, and AMD, along with prominent Vietnamese enterprises such as Petrolimex, Sovico Group, CT Group, Visa, MoMo, and potential startups, who are expected to create an innovative playground where groundbreaking ideas are expanded.
