Elevit, a prenatal multivitamin brand of Bayer, partnered with Vitamin Angels, a public health nonprofit, to launch the "Every Beginning" campaign in Vietnam, providing moms and babies access to essential nutrients.

Parents and parents-to-be can join Elevit's "Every Beginning" community to exchange stories and experiences as well as celebrate the joys of parenting together.

In the initial phase, the campaign will introduce a brand purpose platform to build a community of connected parents and parents-to-be to share their experiences from pregnancy. This campaign demonstrates Bayer's commitment to prenatal care for a healthier pregnancy as well as supporting the general health and wellbeing of women.

The first 1,000 days from pregnancy through age two are critical for a child's growth and development. This crucial period is when a child's brain begins to develop and when the foundations of their lifelong health are built. The right nutrition and care during the 1,000-day window shapes the baby's ability to grow, learn, and thrive, not only now but for their whole life.

On a related note, the World Health Organization reports that malnutrition impacts the development of an estimated 149 million children under the age of five globally. In Vietnam, the prevalence of mothers not meeting the national recommendations for essential micronutrient intake was on average over 50%.

A survey conducted by the Vietnam National Institute of Nutrition also showed that the red blood cell (RBC) folate levels were low in 63% of women. Vietnam also reported a high prevalence of maternal anemia (37%).

Understanding the importance of nutrition during this critical time, Elevit has established a strategic partnership with Vitamin Angels, a public health nonprofit, to take action on caring for every pregnant woman, especially those in difficulty.

Specifically, the "Every Beginning" campaign was launched with the mission of providing prenatal nutrients and education where there is limited access. This campaign aims to reach up to four million underserved pregnant women around the world each year with a daily multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS), which contains the essential vitamins and minerals they need.

In Vietnam, Elevit and Vitamin Angels commit to increasing access to prenatal vitamins and minerals for up to 130,700 underserved pregnant women each year. Joining Elevit's "Every Beginning" community, parents and parents-to-be can exchange experiences of the pregnancy and parenthood journey, gain access to vital nutrients and education on nutrition and celebrate the joys of parenting with fellow parents.

Luigi Isabelo Dejos, head of the consumer Health Division at Bayer Vietnam, shared: "We are proud to partner with Vitamin Angels and their global community of more than 1,200 program partners, to enhance awareness about prenatal nutrition deficiency and to help underserved pregnant women gain access to essential prenatal supplements and nutritional education."

"As a leader in consumer health, Bayer's mission is to use science to improve lives and provide access to safe, convenient daily health solutions for all. Supporting people to do more for their health and well-being is the main purpose of the Consumer Health Division at Bayer," he emphasized.

Vitamin Angels works with local implementation partners to provide better access to MMS nutrition education for pregnant women in underserved communities. At the same time, Vitamin Angels collaborates with public, private and NGO stakeholders to better understand the barriers to making MMS the standard of care for all women in Vietnam. In 2021, Vitamin Angels, enabled access to prenatal vitamins and minerals for 130,000 underserved women and their babies across Vietnam.

Elevit's "Every Beginning" is a part of the global Nutrient Gap Initiative (NGI) by Bayer, aiming to expand access to vitamins and minerals for up to 50 million people in underserved communities per year by 2030 through direct action and in partnership with critical non-governmental organizations. One of the NGI's first focus audiences is underprivileged pregnant women.

Elevit is the global leader in prenatal multivitamins by Bayer, specially formulated to help meet the increased nutritional needs of women from pre-conception through pregnancy to breastfeeding by supplementing essential vitamins and minerals including folic acid, iron and calcium.

The brand was officially launched in Vietnam in January 2022, aiming to improve the chance of a healthy pregnancy for Vietnamese women and give every baby the best start in life.
