The HCMC administration has decided to relax restrictions and expand working hours for food stores, supermarket staff and delivery persons.

Employees of supermarkets, food stores, pharmaceutical firms and medical equipment businesses will be allowed to work from 5 a.m to 9:30 p.m. every day from September 11.

Shippers should remain confined to one district and must be vaccinated at least once and test negative for Covid-19 once every two days.

Residents in safe and low-risk areas like the Districts 7 and Cu Chi, people can go shopping on their own once a week.

Earlier, under ongoing social distancing orders, all stores and businesses were only allowed to open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On September 8, city authorities allowed food services to reopen from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, but only for takeaways.

The city has also allowed wholesale markets of Binh Dien and Hoc Mon to reopen and the Thu Duc Market to continue operating.

HCMC, with more than 286,00 Covid-19 cases recorded since the end of April, has been implementing a "stay where you are" policy since late August and mobilized military personnel and local authorities to do proxy shopping for citizens.
