Ninja Van driver sentenced to 14 years for meth trafficking

A Singaporean delivery driver for logistics firm Ninja Van has been sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison for delivering a package containing methamphetamine.

Ng Soon Kiat, 40, has been found guilty of several charges including trafficking at least 167 grams of meth, The Straits Times reported.

He was also fined SGD6,000 (US$4,400), banned from driving for 34 months, and received 13 strokes of the cane.

Ng admitted to the High Court of Singapore that he began working for Lim Jun Ren, in August 2020.

Lim, 35, who at the time was working for a Malaysian drug supplier, instructed Ng to deliver a package containing four packets of crystal meth to a locker kiosk.

Ng was arrested at his home after the police took in Lim and uncovered their connection via mobile phones.

A prosecutor told the court that Ng would receive instructions from Lim to place the drug parcels at locker kiosks, earning SGD50-80 (US$37-59) per delivery.
