Japanese retail giant Takashimaya to open shopping mall in Hanoi's most expensive land area

Japanese retailer Takashimaya is set open a new shopping mall in the second half of next year in Starlake urban area which has the highest land prices in Hanoi.

Takashimaya's shopping center in Hanoi is being built on plot C1-CC1 of the Tay Ho Tay (Starlake) urban area, spanning more than 17,240 square meters.

It could open in the third quarter of 2027.

The mall will consist of 10 above-ground floors and three basement floors.

Starlake is also the urban area with the highest land prices in Hanoi. According to the city's new land price list, land in prime location in the Tay Ho Tay urban area reaches over VND114 million (US$4,392) per square meter.

Previously, the Japanese retail giant had mentioned its intention to open a shopping mall in Hanoi as early as 2026.

Takashimaya Chairman Yoshio Murata revealed they plan to invest approximately 2 billion yen (US$13 million), according to Nikkei.

In Vietnam, Takashimaya has had a high-end department store in the former central District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City since 2016. In Hanoi, Takashimaya also operates a shopping complex called The Loop, formerly Indochina Plaza Hanoi - IPH.
