The relocation "will cater to Lion Group’s future growth and better serve rising air travel demand in the region."
Following the move, Terminal 4 will house 10 full-service and 10 low-cost carriers.
Lion Group, which operates Batik Air Indonesia, Batik Air Malaysia and Thai Lion Air, is set to compete with low-cost airlines Scoot and Firefly on the new route to Subang Airport, which is located 24 kilometers away from the central of Kuala Lumpur.
The Kuala Lumpur–Singapore corridor was the world’s fourth-busiest international route in 2024 and the busiest in 2023, according to flight analytics platform OAG.
Overall, Lion Group operates 88 weekly services connecting Singapore to Jakarta, Bali, Medan, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
The group also plans further expansion from Thailand, with Thai Lion Air announcing plans to launch flights to Singapore from additional Thai cities beyond Bangkok.
