13 people own 40.8% of VPBank

Thirteen individual shareholders hold a combined 40.8% stake in VPBank, a mandatory disclosed by the lender shows.

A new regulation that came into effect this month requires banks to disclose details of shareholders with a 1% stake or more.

Chairman Ngo Chi Dung is the biggest individual shareholder with a 4.14% stake, and individuals affiliated to him own a combined 29.5%.

Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui owns 15% while Vietnamese company Diera Corp owns 4.39%.

VPBank has not released financial data for the second quarter. In the first quarter its pre-tax profits jumped by 64% to VND4.2 trillion.

It hopes to double full-year profits to VND23 trillion.
