If Vietnam defeat the Philippines in the SEA Games 33 women's football final, they will extend their record to five consecutive gold medals. Currently, Vietnam are the most successful team in the history of women's football at the SEA Games with eight gold medals, including four consecutive wins since 2017.

At this year's tournament in Thailand, Vietnam lost 0-1 to the Philippines in the group stage due to a decisive goal in the additional time. According to goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh, that defeat helped the team learn a lesson in approaching the game and choosing a more suitable attacking strategy.

Vietnam enter the final with great physical condition after overcoming Indonesia in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the Philippines, making their first appearance in the SEA Games final, carry great momentum after their victory over Thailand in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals.
